PANHELLENIC COUNCIL

COLGATE UNIVERSITY

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the Colgate Panhellenic Council website!

My name is Mary Huntley, and I am the Panhellenic Vice President of Recruitment for 2023. I was a Recruitment Counselor during Recruitment in 2022, so I have worked in a recruitment position on the Panhellenic side before. I am so excited for my new role on Panhellenic and cannot wait for recruitment in September!

Panhellenic operates in two groups. One group is the Executive Board, which consists of 11 people distributed across all three sororities. The other group is the Panhellenic Council, which consists of our executive board and 3 delegates who represent each sorority chapter. On our website, you can find more information about our executive board and about each of the three sorority chapters at Colgate. We encourage you to check out all of the information!

We, as the Panhellenic Executive Board, serve as the governing body for the approximately 600 members of the Colgate Panhellenic Community. We work with the Inter-Fraternity Council, each sorority chapter and the administration to improve the experience of our Panhellenic members. We also work alongside other student groups and organizations to enrich both the Colgate and Hamilton village communities.

I am excited for this coming year as we are seeing a return to normalcy, and I am so grateful to the Panhellenic community for offering us this sense of security throughout the unprecedented past few years. I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge that we are still living through the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and are sensitive to the vast challenges that living through a pandemic presents.

As a Panhellenic leader, I recognize how many types of privilege manifest in the recruitment process, and we are working with each chapter to improve accessibility and inclusion within the Greek Life Community here at Colgate. Currently, each chapter has a BEDI Vice President with whom Panhellenic is working with to make all of our events as inclusive as possible. However, our mission of creating a more diverse and inclusive system requires an ongoing collaborative effort across all campus organizations. Therefore, I will to remain open to your feedback and ideas on how to accomplish this goal together.

Thank you for taking a moment to visit our website and please continue to check back for updates on how we are working toward making the Panhellenic community stronger and updates on fall Recruitment.

All the best,

Mary Huntley
